City Assessor

The Assessor's Office prepares the assessment roll each year   according to the often changing set of Michigan Property Tax Laws. Equitable assessments are placed on each property based upon market conditions. These assessments form the basis for the collection of City property tax revenue. The Assessor reviews the new construction which occurs each year in the City to place it on the tax roll, as well as reviewing the personal property in the possession of local businesses.The Assessor also administers the Homestead Exemption Act which allows homestead properties to pay a lower school millage rate.
